Retiring Fremantle forward Matthew Pavlich believes that “all a player can ask is that the legacy endures.”
“I believe that I, along with a few other key people that are in the room, have planted a tree,” Pavlich said.
“That tree has borne some pretty good fruit over the recent picking seasons.
“I’m about to leave the paddock and the next owners of the paddock and the tree are going to come along.
“I hope that they’ll have a lot of great fruit to pick from here on.
“That’s all a player can ask, that the legacy endures.”
Pavlich has faith in Freo's future
Pavlich said that the balance between life and football is important for all players.
“I hope I’ve influenced their life and their approach to football,” Pavlich said.
“It’s not just about the men in the room who’ve played the game, it’s about their life after.
“I’ve hopefully been a bit of a beacon for them about how to live your life as well as play football.”
Pavlich will play his 353rd and final game against the Bulldogs on Sunday at Domain Stadium at 2:40pm AWST.
