It was a tough farewell to Optus Stadium in 2020 for Fremantle as they fell by 38 points to GWS on Saturday in the Starlight Purple Haze Game.

Giants forward, Jeremy Cameron stamped his authority on the game in the first quarter, attacking the contest and booting two goals in a minute to get the Giants off to a strong start.

He finished with four majors as the Giants cruised to their seventh win of the season, 14.7 (91) to 8.5 (53).

Freo’s star veteran David Mundy gave the Freo fans something to cheer about – and some hope – as he kicked two goals in as many minutes in the third term, including a long set shot from outside 50 for his first of the day.

Liam Henry followed later in the term with a brilliant snap to kick his first AFL goal, easily the highlight for the Freo fans who turned up in strong numbers for their final home game of the season.

With 20 disposals, Mundy helped guide Freo’s young midfield, as he laid eight tackles to once again be among Fremantle’s best.

Freo youngster Adam Cerra added another notable performance to his impressive season, with 23 disposals, five marks and four tackles while playing primarily on the wing.

Key forward Matt Taberner skicked two goals to bring his season tally to 25 and continue his streak as the only AFL player with a goal in every possible round this year.

Thanks to the generous support from Fremantle fans, who pledged more than $6,600 per goal to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, more than $53,000 was raised for seriously ill children and their families.

This amount was then increased to a total of more than $103,000 thanks to South32, Starlight's Fundraising Partner, who matched every pledge from the Purple Army, up to $50,000.
