Justin Longmuir believes Fremantle’s game plan can work in all conditions, not just in dry weather.
Fremantle’s loss to Carlton in round 12 goes alongside losses to Geelong and Port Adelaide in wet conditions.

While Longmuir conceded that his players hadn’t played at their best when it rains, he didn’t believe it would be a long-term problem.
“I wouldn’t say the game plan is more suited for dry weather,” Longmuir said.
“I think the players and the exposure to the wet weather just hasn’t been there over the years.
“Naturally in Perth, you don’t get a lot of wet weather footy. We’re a young team that hasn’t had a lot of exposure to wet weather footy but I feel like, even on the weekend, we were better than what we were the previous time we played in the wet against Geelong.
“We were better in the contest, our structure held up better and we were in front until the final siren went.”
Longmuir said the players would improve their wet weather footy as they gain more experience.
“We’ve probably played in a lot of wet weather games and I think it’s going to hold us in good stead for the future when we do come up in that situation for the years to come,” Longmuir said.
“I think the game plan is suited for all weather…we just haven’t had that exposure yet.”
Longmuir said Fremantle hadn’t complained to the AFL about the umpiring decisions that led to Carlton’s game-winning goal after the siren in round 12.
“We’re in a constant dialogue with the umpires about decisions that happen week in week out,” Longmuir said.
“I think the AFL clarified their stance to everyone on Monday and we’re happy, we’ve accepted that and moved on and we’re at peace with it. That’s where we sit at the moment.”
