Michael Walters and Stefan Giro have pulled up well following their returns to football, according to high performance manager Jason Weber in this week’s Envision Medical Imaging injury update.
Walters had 88 per cent game time in his return against Carlton in round 12 while midfielder Stefan Giro played limited minutes in a reserves clash against the Blues on Saturday morning at Victor George Kailis Oval.
“Michael pulled up really well,” Weber said.
“He did everything right, prepared really well beforehand and we’re looking forward to having him back for an extended period now.”
Weber said Giro would play a full game in Fremantle’s next reserves clash.
“Stef had a very challenging injury period with the ACL and syndesmosis injury.
“He’s been very patient, worked extremely hard. He got into the game at the weekend in the reserves and we’ll see him back next weekend in a full hitout.”
Weber confirmed forward Sam Sturt would not play for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his ankle.
“Sam unfortunately had that ankle injury up on the Gold Coast,” Weber said.
“At the time all the specialist advice was to move cautiously with that one, which we did.
“Unfortunately, it hasn’t progressed and he saw a surgeon this past week and had a procedure, which will unfortunately end his season.”
