Fremantle could have a major boost for Saturday night’s clash with Carlton with leader Michael Walters set to return from a hamstring injury.
In this week’s Envision Medical Imaging injury update, high performance manager Jason Weber said Walters had trained ‘really strongly’ and was very confident the All Australian would be available for selection.
Like Walters, speedy midfielder Stefan Giro will also face a fitness test to return to football after recovering from an ankle injury.
“Stef’s done a fantastic job,” Weber said.
“He’s been incredibly patient and trained incredibly hard.
“He got through the ACL injury but unfortunately had that big ankle injury. He’s up and going this week and we’ll look to get him in through the reserves.”
Weber said forward Travis Colyer was expected to miss three weeks after scans revealed a ‘low level injury’ to his hamstring.
Midfielder Connor Blakely will be available to play against Carlton after he was cleared of a shoulder injury.
“Connor was caught awkwardly in a tackle (against Hawthorn),” Weber said.
“The scans have all come back really good. He’s pulled up well with good strength this morning so he’ll train this week and be available.”
