The positive vibe around Fremantle after consecutive wins against Collingwood and Hawthorn continues to build, with AFL360 hosts Mark Robinson and Gerard Whateley heaping praise on senior coach Justin Longmuir and his youthful Fremantle team.
Tuesday on Fox Footy on Tuesday night, both Robinson and Whateley said they could sense something special was brewing out west.
“Fremantle, you can see what they’re going to grow into can’t you?” Whateley said.
“Justin Longmuir, if you know anything about his journey, you know how impressive he is, and you’re starting to see it in full view.
“Two weeks in a row, he’s clearly had the better of Collingwood and Hawthorn in the way he took their game away from them. It’s very impressive.”
Robinson agreed, saying Longmuir was the kind of coach that could build a genuine connection with his players.
“When you talk about Fremantle, you smile, because youth makes you smile and when you see young boys like Andrew Brayshaw, ripping off the 30-plus (disposals) against (Tom) Mitchell, (Jager) O’Mera etcetera…and (Adam) Cerra, (Caleb) Serong and Luke Ryan down back - they’ve just got so many nice things happening there,” Robinson said.
“Always you go to the coach. He’s a relatively young figure in coaching ranks. He seems to have a really good human nature about him.
“When I hear him talk…he’s not putting on different personas, I feel he’s talking to me one-on-one.
“So if you’re playing for Justin Longmuir…imagine what that’s like being a player at the club?
“It’s just a wonderful feeling that they’ve got.”
