Crawford, Koutoufides, Hawkins, Lyon and “Strauchanie.” Sounds like the line up for a really great episode of The Footy Show.  Instead these were some of the names that entertained 200 Fremantle corporate guests at the club’s inaugural AFL Grand Final luncheon in Melbourne today.

Kicking off at 12.30pm, guests were welcomed to The Rialto, Intercontinental Melbourne by Channel Nine sports reporter and host, Mark Readings. New Fremantle coach Ross Lyon was first to address the guests, giving an insight into what a Grand Final week is like for an AFL coach and explaining the heartbreak of coming second best on the big day.

Next on the agenda was the infamous Bryan ‘Strauchanie’ Strauchan who gave guests some ‘inside information‘ on the Collingwood side. Strauchanie had his audience in stitches as he talked about his coaching aspirations and his individual Grand Final preparation.

Guests were treated to a gourmet three-course meal before being entertained by former Hawthorn Captain and Brownlow medallist, Shane Crawford, who shared the emotional story of his 305 game battle to win a premiership with the Hawks in 2008.

AFL superstars Anthony Koutoufides and Doug Hawkins finalised the entertainment for the afternoon each explaining what Grand Final day meant to them.

We only hope that tomorrow’s Grand Final match can provide as much entertainment for our guests as today’s afternoon to remember.
