Form-line

Freo (12th) - W L W W L W W L L L W L L W
Melbourne (16th) - L L L L L L L L L W L W L L

The selection table

Freo - Zac Dawson looks ready to slot back into defence, while Lachie Neale could also return to the line-up. Anthony Morabito appears to have recovered from concussion as he continues his progress towards an impending return to the AFL.

Melbourne - Brad Green and Aaron Davey played well in the VFL on the weekend and should push for selection. Mark Jamar and Tom McDonald have trained well and could also return. Mitch Clark and Clint Bartram are out for the season.

Who’s hot

Freo - Chris Mayne: Mayne's partnership up forward with Matthew Pavlich is blossoming this season. He's proving the perfect foil to the skipper and his tenacious tackling and pressure is a highlight.

Melbourne - Nathan Jones: Jones has been a bright light in a disappointing season for Melbourne. He had 25 touches against Richmond last Saturday and will again be called upon to win the ball this weekend.

X-Factor

Freo - Hayden Ballantyne: The lift 'Ballaz' gives Freo through his acts of desperation and determination is invaluable. It personifies the great effort Ross Lyon demands.

Melbourne - Colin Sylvia: Sylvia has had a forgettable season, but in recent weeks his immense talent has begun to re-emerge as his fitness levels increase. He'll have to be watched closely as he could explode into his best form at any moment.

Key match-up

Matthew Pavlich v James Frawley - Melbourne will be relieved Frawley escaped penalty for his striking charge from the weekend. Without him, the Demons would struggle to contain an in-form Matthew Pavlich. Frawley will be hoping his midfielders can prevent an avalanche of inside 50 entries. If Pavlich sees a lot of the ball, the Melbourne full-back will be in for a long afternoon.

Toyota AFL Dream Team

Freo - Matthew de Boer: De Boer has averaged just 47 points over his past three games against Melbourne. He’s enjoying a breakout season in the midfield this season however, and looks a safe bet to continue building on his excellent 87.4 points per game in 2012.

Melbourne: Colin Sylvia:
Sylvia is capable of some massive DT scores. Although he’s been down in 2012, his scores of 100 and 109 in his past two matches should give coaches confidence.
