Melbourne have rated forward Jared Rivers as only a 50-50 chance of lining up against Fremantle at Patersons Stadium this Saturday night.

The club’s website, Melbournefc.com.au, said he will face a fitness test in the lead-up to what would be his 150th AFL match.

Rivers has played every match this season but suffered a groin injury during Melbourne’s 69-point loss to Adelaide at the MCG on Sunday.

Melbourne’s dwindling big man department could receive a crucial boost with ruckman Mark Jamar a chance to return for a clash with Aaron Sandilands.

In his first match since reinjuring his calf against Fremantle in round 16, Jamar had 38 hitouts and impressed in Casey’s win against Sandringham in the VFL
