Where Freo can win the Semi Final
Two Crows must be contained at AAMI Stadium tomorrow night
Firstly, Patrick Dangerfield has torched the Freo midfield for 66 disposals, 43 contested possessions, 19 clearances, three goals and very likely six Brownlow Medal votes in the two games.
Ross Lyon has sent his star tagger Ryan Crowley to Crows’ hard-man Scott Thompson in each match between the sides this season.
Crowley has done the job, restricting Thompson to 18 and 16 disposals, but will Dangerfield’s performances force the Freo coach to rethink who he sends his stopper to?
One thing is certain, if Freo wants to leave AAMI Stadium with its season still alive, there’s no way Dangerfield can be allowed the exert the sort of influence he had in rounds 10 and 20.
The other man who has been a thorn in Freo’s side is key Adelaide forward Taylor Walker.
The strongly built target man has booted four goals in each contest this season, with the first bag being kicked on Luke McPharlin in round 10.
Walker has kicked four goals in each of his past four matches against Fremantle.
With Zac Dawson likely to man Kurt Tippett and McPharlin out injured, the job of playing on Walker should go to Alex Silvagni, who held Geelong’s James Podsiadly goalless last week.
While Silvagni will be Walker’s direct opponent, he will call upon Freo’s incredible team defence to help curb the star Crows’ influence.
