Star North Melbourne midfielder Daniel Wells could be back for Sunday’s vital clash with Fremantle according to Kangaroos.com.au

North football chief Donald McDonald said a decision on Wells, who missed the win over Collingwood with a calf injury, would be made later in the week.

“Because we play on Sunday, it enables us to give Daniel extra time to prove his fitness after missing last week," he said.

"Obviously he is a vitally important player to us, so with that in mind it's crucial we don't rush him back.

“But if the medical staff say he’s right to go, then he will be out there for sure."

Key defender Nathan Grima will miss at least another week with hamstring tendonitis.
