Form-line

Richmond: Won 9 Lost 10 (12th) - L L W L L W W L W W L W L W L L L W W

The selection table

Freo -
The club will wait on the availability of key players Nat Fyfe and Chris Mayne, although Ross Lyon has indicated that Fyfe should be ok to play. The good news is that Luke McPharlin returns from suspension and Nick Lower was dominant in the WAFL.

Richmond - The Tigers are reasonably healthy for this late stage of the season. Midfielder Nathan Foley and ruck/forward Tyrone Vickery are out for the season, but otherwise, Richmond don’t have too many worries.

Who’s hot

Freo - David Mundy: The 2010 Doig Medallist’s best is beginning to come to the fore. Against Adelaide, he had 20 possessions, 12 of them contested. That came after a very good month of football from the classy on-baller.

Richmond - Trent Cotchin:
An easy one following the star 22-year-old’s sublime display of skill, poise and tenacity in Richmond’s win over the Western Bulldogs last Sunday. Cotchin was sensational gathering 35 disposals (14 contested), winning six centre clearances and booting three goals.

X-Factor

Freo - Matt de Boer: If de Boer plays half as well as he did against the Tigers in round 11, he’ll have a big game. The hard-nut on-baller had 29 disposals, 13 tackles and a goal in what was probably the best performance of his young career. He was Freo’s best against the Crows last week and will be called upon to win the hard ball again.

Richmond - Dustin Mustin: Martin has it all - great skills, brilliant speed and a smart footy brain. He’s been a bit inconsistent this season but can make a big difference to Richmond’s fortunes if he fires.

Key match-ups

Matthew Pavlich v Jack Riewoldt: While they’ll be at opposite ends of the ground, the Coleman Medal subplot will generate great interest among footy fans. Pavlich leads the race on 57, while Riewoldt closed in on 54 following five against the Bulldogs last weekend. Freo’s skipper may get some help from his teammate Luke McPharlin, who returns and will line up on the Tigers’ spearhead.

Ryan Crowley v Trent Cotchin: Cotchin's is in match-winning form, so Freo's best tagger is likely to be given the duty of curbing his influence.

Jon Griffin v Ivan Maric: Griffin was huge in round 11 after Aaron Sandilands had to be subbed off early. Matched up against one of the favourites for the 2012 All Australian ruck position, the Freo Docker had 43 hitouts and kicked a superb goal in wet conditions to play a major role in Freo’s win.

Toyota AFL Dream Team

Freo - David Mundy: Mundy is hitting his straps at the business end of the season and has averaged 104.5 in his past four matches against Richmond.

Richmond: Shane Tuck:
With the Tigers boasting the likes of Cotchin and Martin in the midfield, Tuck often accumulates big DT scores as he rarely gets the hard tags. He’s averaged 108 over his past three against Freo.
