North Melbourne: Won 13 Lost 7 (6th) - L W W L W L L L W L W W W L W W W W W W

The selection table

Freo - Matthew Pavlich, Nat Fyfe and Tendai Mzungu all reported sore after the win over Richmond, while Jon Griffin is also in doubt after hurting himself in the warm-up. Nick Lower and Zac Clarke had big games in the WAFL.

North Melbourne - Midfield star Daniel Wells could return but defender Nathan Grima is out for another week.

Who’s hot

Freo - Hayden Ballantyne:
The feisty little forward was at his chasing, harassing and tackling best last Saturday against the Tigers. It’s that sort of effort that will be needed to match it with the hungry Roos this Sunday.

North Melbourne - Brent Harvey: The ageless little midfielder has been massive for the Roos in their recent run of form. He had 33 possessions against Collingwood and kicked three match-winning goals the week before against Essendon.

X-Factor

Freo - Aaron Sandilands:
Sandilands was huge in his first game back last weekend after Jon Griffin was injured in the warm-up. He’ll have to back that excellent performance up against North on Sunday to help Freo gain midfield ascendency.

North Melbourne - Sam Gibson: Gibson has come from the clouds to add another dimension to North’s midfield. The mature-ager has been sensational since debuting in round 12, averaging 22 disposals and seven marks per game.

Key match-ups

Luke McPharlin v Drew Petrie: Apart from helping his captain win the Coleman Medal, McPharlin can go a long way towards helping Fremantle defeat the Roos by stopping their best goal kicker.

Aaron Sandilands v Todd Goldstein: Goldstein dominated Collingwood ruckman Darren Jolly last week. He will face the tallest man in the league on Sunday, making another 40 hitout game unlikely.

Toyota AFL Dream Team

Freo - David Mundy:
Mundy has averaged 103 DT points per game in his past four against the Roos and has scores of 121 and 130 in two of his past three games this season.

North Melbourne: Andrew Swallow: Apart from being his club’s highest DT scorer this season, Swallow has averaged 103 in his past four against Freo, including 119 the last time the teams met.
