Some of the biggest names in Freo Dockers’ history had a day out at Carlton’s expense in round 13, 2007.

Fremantle won 27.11 (173) to the Blues’ 13.18 (96), with four stars kicking 17 goals between them.

Des Headland booted five, while the club’s past two captains, Peter Bell and Matthew Pavlich, kicked four each.

Jeff Farmer, who was playing his first game of the season since being handed a six-game club-imposed suspension on top of an AFL suspension from a pre-season game, was also brilliant with four majors.

Freo began the match well, kicking the first three goals, one from a double-50 metre penalty against enigmatic Carlton full-forward Brendan Fevola.

The Blues fought back and kicked five of the next six goals to lead at quarter time.
But Freo shot out of the blocks in the second term with a series of goals to go into half-time 25 points up.

The second half was a continuation of the second quarter, with Carlton unable to halt the home side’s momentum.

Freo added to its all-time scoring records, including its second-highest ever score and the highest score against Carlton (173), the fourth-most points in a quarter (57 in the fourth), and the second-most points in a half (106 in the second half).

In the wash-up to the game, Fevola would be disciplined by Carlton with a one-match suspension for on-field indiscretions during the game against Fremantle.
