Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe will miss Sunday’s RAC Derby.

Defenders Hayden Young (ankle) and Griffin Logue (toe) are not expected to return until at least the tail end of the season but general manager of football Peter Bell was hopeful that ruckman Sean Darcy would play against West Coast.

Bell said scans had confirmed a strain in Fyfe’s right hamstring.

“Nat got through the game against St Kilda on Saturday,” Bell said.

“On Monday, we had him do some tests on his right hamstring and he reported 100 per cent strength.

“On Tuesday after a training run he pulled up with a little bit of soreness so we sent him off for a scan.

“The scan indicated that he has a small strain to his right hamstring in a different area to the previous one, so unfortunately he will miss this week and potentially a few more games after that.

“Nat will get stuck into his rehabilitation and, hopefully, we’ll see him in a few weeks.

Bell said Young had surgery on his injured ankle.

“Hayden had a right ankle injury and that’s been diagnosed as a syndesmosis injury,” Bell said.

“Hayden’s had surgery on that and is at home recuperating at the moment, then he’ll go into a longer term rehabilitation.

“I’m not sure exactly how long that will be, we are hopeful he will be back to play some football at the tail end of this season.”

Bell said Logue was expected to miss a significant amount of football after being diagnosed with turf toe.

Logue last played for Fremantle against Adelaide where he starred as Freo’s lone key defender.

“Unfortunately Griffin has turf toe, which is a reasonably serious injury around that right big toe,” Bell said.

“The rehab plan for him is to have about five weeks of partial weight bearing to protect that toe and let it recover and then build from there.

“It’s another longer term injury and we’re hopeful he’ll be back later in the year.”

Bell said Darcy would only play in the RAC Derby if he continued to remain symptom free from the concussion he sustained against St Kilda.

“All signs are really positive for Sean,” Bell said.

“He’s passed all the various tests that we’ve asked him to complete. He has to get through a full week of training symptom free. We won’t take any risks at all for him to play this weekend.”
