Highlight – Mayne starred in the second Carlton Mid Derby in round 16. He had 21 disposals, six marks, three goals and nine tackles and was very close to being adjudged the Ross Glendinning Medallist.

Summary – Mayne went on with it in 2013 after his excellent breakout season in 2012. His pressure is elite up forward and his set-shot was deadly accurate again. Averaged 1.5 goals per game, which is very solid for a medium forward.

Finals

Qualifying Final – 13 disposals, 1 goal
Preliminary Final – 17 disposals, 6 marks, 13 tackles.
Grand Final – 13 disposals, 5 marks, 4 tackles, 1 goal

Summary – Mayne typified Freo’s relentless pressure in the Preliminary Final with a staggering 13 tackles. Wasn’t as prominent in the Grand Final but he kicked a huge third-quarter goal from outside 50.

Outlook: Mayne has established himself as one of the best medium forwards in the league. He’s lethal on the set-shot, but his ability to apply repeat pressure is just as significant.
