Trees falling at Freo, one Zac steps up, another Zac is asked to, Ibbo’s form, ‘Sonny’s’ black and white master-class and back and forth Freo go
Fremantle's tall timber has been cut down like a Brazilian rainforest this season. Jon Griffin's knee injury will keep him out for the rest of 2013. Aaron Sandilands is still atleast a month away and Kepler Bradley is also done for the year. First-yearplayer Jack Hannath was left to carry the load against Collingwood, with some assistance from defender Zac Dawson. Zac Clarke is available now and becomes a huge factor over the next few weeks, although his fitness may not yet be up to scratch to be thrust into AFL level right away following an injury lay-off.

Time to step up Zac
After Saturday night's win, Ross Lyon passed Zac Clarke in the players' race. "You need to step up", the senior coach said bluntly to his ruckman. How Clarke responds to this challenge is up to him, but one thing is certain, his coach doesn't dance around the obvious.
Ibbotson’s form
Has anyone noticed how well this guy is going? If you hadn't before Saturday's game, they you surely did by the end of it. In three games since returning, 'Ibbo' has been outstanding on the half-back line playing as a loose man. He's averaged 25 disposals and 12 marks per game over that period. They are numbers the AFL's elite midfielders would be proud of. Against the Magpies, he courageously stood in the space that diesel truck Travis Cloke wanted to lead into time and time again.

Dawson rucks
Showing he wasn't just a hard-nosed defender, Zac Dawson answered Ross Lyon's SOS by helping out Jack Hannath in the ruck after Griffin had gone down. Following the game, Lyon said it was a move he'd implemented when the pair were at St Kilda. With Luke McPharlin doing the job on Travis Cloke, the Magpies didn't possess another key forward that Dawson was required to stand. Seeing Dawson wasn't needed in defence, Lyon knew he could count on him to help out elsewhere.

'Sonny' sees black and white
Last year, Michael Walters was banished to the black and whites. On Saturday night, it was he who sent black and whites packing with a magical display of Australian Rules football. 'Son Son's' goals were like daggers into Collingwood's hearts, especially this ripper on the run in the last quarter. Collingwood simply had no answer for him.

Up and down the park Freo go
Freo's game plan was implemented brilliantly in a first quarter that blew the Magpies off the park. The players in purple ran their guts out to execute their coach's orders. It saw almost all players run hard to get back and clog up Collingwood's forward forays. Then, when the ball had been won, Freo spread over Patersons Stadium like a shockwave. The Magpies didn't have the leg-speed to go with their opponents, who put the score on the board early on.
