AFL.com.au journalists have assessed the first half of the season and submitted their All Australian teams at the midway point.

Each writer’s selections were compiled to arrive at a 22-man All Australian team and senior coach.

Fremantle’s Ross Lyon received the nod as coach, but the only Freo players to make the team were Nat Fyfe and Luke McPharlin, who were both chosen on the bench.

Freo fans would consider ball-magnet Michael Barlow very unlucky not to be in the team considering he has averaged 27 disposals per game, including three consecutive games where he has collected 32 touches and a Ross Glendinning Medal as best on ground in the Carlton Mid Derby.

Injury probably cost Michael Walters a spot in the forward line. He was arguably the in-form small forward in the competition up until his injury in round 8.

Fremantle’s defence has conceded the fewest points by some margin so far this season, but no member of the back six was chosen in the starting backline for this side.

That probably highlights just how well the purple and white boys work as a unit.
