Grover missed four weeks because of injury, but he has showed pleasing signs since returning to action.
Fremantle assistant and senior development coach Simon Lloyd said Grover’s performance was a pleasing one.
“If you look through the course of the year, Antoni has been consistent throughout the season,” Lloyd said.
“He is very professional in the way that he carries himself around the club and he has the utmost respect from the players and coaches.
“Antoni is a real competitor, and you’ll be sure that as long as he is playing football, he will want to get the best out of himself.”
Lloyd shared his notes on all Fremantle’s players who played in the WAFL on the weekend.
Defenders
Antoni Grover (S) (8 kicks, 6 handballs) 5 marks
Antoni has been back for two weeks following a four-week injury. He played in defence on Paul Medhurst and kept him goalless. He was dour in defense, always anticipating the next play and always checking his opponent. He showed a lot of leadership in regards to getting his teammates organized. It was a really professional performance from Antoni.
Alex Forster (SD) 15 disposals (12 kicks, 3 handballs)
Alex played reserves this week for Swan Districts. As the weeks progress, he is moving better and better. He showed good defensive run and his ball use was measured and clean. We have found that he is very coachable and improving every week.
Jack Anthony (S) 16 disposals (14 kicks, 2 handballs) 6 marks, 1 goal
Jack played on some solid WAFL opponents, with the majority of the game on Tom Lee. Jack showed good attack on the footy and his positioning and general endeavor was really good. The pleasing thing was that he always looked to attack the game and make his opponents defend. He won some good one-on-one contests and halved critical isolated contests.
Jordan Wilson-King (SF) 16 disposals (9 kicks, 7 handballs) 4 marks, 1 goals
Played reserves
It was Jordan’s first game back after six weeks out. He showed he was aggressive in his attack on the ball and looked to run and carry at every opportunity. We like the fact that when he gets the ball in his hands, he really looks to break the lines and run with the footy. It’s good to see him back and hopefully we get some continuity.
Dylan Roberton (EP) 20 disposals (13 kicks, 7 handballs) 7 marks
Dylan started as a midfielder, but after quarter-time, played the game out as a defender. We have seen Dylan evolve in his third year, and he is becoming a lot more aggressive in regards to his tackling with intent. He is asserting himself and playing with a harder edge, which is a real positive.
Peter Faulks (PT) 16 disposals (8 kicks, 8 handballs) 5 marks
Peter played a really solid game in defense in Peel’s win over the Bulldogs. He played an aggressive game consistently over four quarters. He was only beaten in a couple of contests. Peter has really improved his defensive positioning and, when Peel won the football, he looked to really get used on the spread and was confident with the ball in his hand. It was a good game from Peter.
Lee Spurr (PT) 13 disposals (7 kicks, 6 handballs) 4 marks, 5 tackles
Lee played as a high defender and showed good physicality in and around the contest. He beat his opponents and helped the Peel defence stay organised. He took two strong marks from reading the ball well in anticipation, he spoiled effectively and showed some smart positioning.
Paul Duffield (SF) 15 disposals (8 kicks, 7 handballs) 9 tackles
Paul started on the ball and then went into defence later in the game. He worked into the game and showed good run from contest to contest. When he went to half-back after half-time, his ball use was excellent Paul positioned well as a plus-one and gave good run from defence.
