Click here for a report on Freo Dockers who played midfield in WAFL action
Jay van Berlo (WP) 27 disposals (14 kicks, 13 handballs) 4 marks
Played reserves
Jay played in the midfield, directly on teammate Cam Sutcliffe. They had a good battle for the majority of the game. Jay worked hard, particularly running hard forward of the ball, and won lots of clearances. He tackled strongly and used the ball well. It was a consistent four quarters from him.
Cam Sutcliffe (EF) 25 disposals (17 kicks, 8 handballs) 4 marks, 1 goal
Played reserves
Cam played midfield on Jay van Berlo. He ran hard defensively to support and also ran hard the other way to attack inside 50. His ability to cover ground is very good. He kicked the ball well, with five inside 50’s. Both he and Jay had a really good hit-out.
Anthony Morabito (PT) 20 disposals (12 kicks, 8 handballs) 5 marks,
Anthony played midfield with brief passages as a forward. We found that Anthony got to work in the second quarter onwards, where he was stronger around the contest. He was tagged at different times, but he looked to get to more contests and hunt the footy in congestion. There were several passages where he showed really strong surge running and he will look to build on that.
Tom Sheridan (PT) 20 disposals (8 kicks, 12 handballs) 2 marks, 2 tackles
It was a really positive game from Tom Sheridan. He played as an inside-mid early and showed a strong work rate to get from contest to contest. His ability to get back and help out in defence was also solid. The positives for Tom’s game were his clean hands and his off-ball run.
Haiden Schloithe (SF) 16 disposals (8 kicks, 8 handballs) 3 tackles
Haiden started the game very well, playing as an inside-mid where he got his hands to the ball on a number of occasions. He showed a lot of hardness in and around the contest. The positives were his contested ball in the first quarter around stoppages and his aggression. Haiden is playing in bursts at the moment, he just needs to build a consistency over the four quarters and that’s our focus with him.
