Fremantle sports science manager Jason Weber is hopeful Matthew Pavlich will be available for selection for Saturday’s match against Port Adelaide at Patersons Stadium.

Pavlich was a late withdrawal from last Sunday’s game against Brisbane at the Gabba after he experienced tightness in his quad during the warm-up.

“Matt had a bit of a residual quad injury from the week before against Hawthorn,” Weber said.

“It just didn’t quite come up for us on the weekend but he’ll be a test this week and we’re confident of getting him to match committee ready for Ross (Lyon) to select.”

Weber said key players Michael Barlow (thumb) and Luke McPharlin (calf) were tracking nicely but wouldn’t be available this week.

Michael is still suffering from the fracture that he incurred a couple of weeks ago so he’ll be at least another week,” he said.

“Luke’s calf is progressing and we’re happy with how it’s going.

“He’s not quite ready yet but we’ll be pushing him as hard as we can.”

Young midfielder Tommy Sheridan was listed as a test on the HBF Injury Update.

“Tommy’s been training really well,” Weber said.

“He’ll be a test this week and, with Thursday training, he will hopefully be available for selection.”
