Walters injury could be season-ending
Ross Lyon says unfavourable scan results next week could rule the classy forward out for the year
Walters dislocated the tendon in his ankle during Fremantle’s loss to Hawthorn at the MCG last Friday night.

Scans of the injury have been reviewed by a Melbourne specialist, with the medical advice being the club should wait seven to 10 days to allow the swelling to subside before having further scans.
Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon told Channel 7 on Tuesday night a worst-case scenario for the classy forward was season-ending surgery.
“It would be unlikely he would play football again this year, although a slim chance,” he said.
“We’ll give it a week to settle down, and there is a slight chance that everything will fall into place and he’ll be okay, but it’s more unlikely than likely.
“It’s big stakes for Michael and the club.”
Walters was Fremantle’s leading goal kicker in 2013 and has become one of the AFL’s best small forwards.
