Midfielder Andrew Brayshaw has emerged from a mandatory quarantine with a fresh outlook on life and footy after spending 14-days cooped up with three teammates following their arrival back in WA in early May.
Brayshaw was reunited with the full squad last Thursday alongside fellow interstate players James Aish, Adam Cerra, Sean Darcy, Lloyd Meek, Lachie Schultz, Stam Sturt, Caleb Serong, Matt Taberner and Hayden Young.
“It was challenging but it makes me appreciate everything a lot more now that I’m not quarantined,” Brayshaw said.
“It feels great to be out now. I was able to go in with three other guys from Vic and it actually flew by pretty quickly in the end.
“Pretty much we were only allowed to go out of the house for training for an hour a day at Cockburn.
“Apart from that, we were just at home. We set up a bit of a home gym in the garage, which was great, and we definitely got to know each other a fair bit better.”
Brayshaw was thrilled with Fremantle’s return to contact training on Monday, with the playing group braving the wet and wild weather that swept through most of the state.
“Given the conditions, I thought we were pretty good, the skills were up,” Brayshaw said.
“Everyone has been keeping up their work in the break and they were looking pretty sharp.
“It didn’t matter that it was raining and wet and very windy, we absolutely loved it, it was so much fun.
“I’m feeling great. The next two weeks will be a good challenge and then we get to Gold Coast and get to work.”
