Fremantle AFLW senior coach Trent Cooper has agreed to terms for a one-year contract extension, seeing him at the club until the end of the 2021 AFLW season.
The extension comes on top of Cooper’s initial two-year contract, where in 2019 he led the club’s AFLW team to a Preliminary Final with a 6-1 win loss record during the AFLW home and away season.
General manager of football Peter Bell said it was an exciting time for the club to have Cooper commit to the AFLW program.
“We are extremely pleased to have Trent around until at least 2021, it will help us with the long-term planning for our AFLW program” Bell said.
“It has been great to see the growth in the girls and the program since Trent has been here, so it’s exciting to think where he can take the girls during the next two years.”
“He has worked hard to not only improve their on-field performance but has also built the chemistry between the girls off the field.”
Cooper said he was looking forward to being part of the club’s AFLW future.
“We achieved a fair bit this year, but this is only the first step of what we want to achieve in our program,” Cooper said.
“The club has made a big commitment to women’s footy and it’s something I really want to be a part of.
“I am really excited that the club wants me to be a part of it too.”
