Both Alex Pearce and James Aish have admitted to being slightly jealous of some of their teammates’ gym setups as they continue their training and fitness programs at home.
Speaking on episode one of Fremantle's No Season Show, the pair discussed their home gyms and revealed who they think has the best best set-up in lockdown.
Pearce praised Brett Bewley for using his skills as an apprentice carpenter to set up a gym at home at Perth.
“He’s got a sensational gym set up in his garage,” Pearce said.
“He brought over some gear with him from Melbourne when he moved over.
“With his tradie background, he’s really got that humming. There’s weights, plates and things set up everywhere.”
Aish praised Lloyd Meek, who has settled in on the family farm near Mininera in Victoria.
“Lloyd sent me a photo of his setup down at his farm back home,” Aish said.
“He’s got a really good gym setup and a bit of that open space would be nice as well.”
Aish said all players were making do as they went through their training programs.
“It’s like our Christmas program, we’re still very much training and preparing for games, whenever that happens,” Aish said.
“It’s a pretty solid program, generally three runs a week and three or four gym sessions.
“It’s a little bit of making do in terms of what equipment we have.
“I think everyone is still getting the work done. Guys that can train with people are doing that as well.”
Even with limited equipment, Pearce feels he’s getting a good workout in.
“(I have) a little bit of equipment from the club,” Pearce said.
“We were given some resistance bands when we left on the last day. Last week I managed to snag a bench, a few dumbells as well as a few little things.
“It’s certainly not a heap but in situations like these, you realise that you don’t need too much to be able to get it done.”

Pearce added he was making sure he met up with another teammate for a run and to kick the footy.
“It’s good to have someone alongside you to help get the work done,” Pearce said.
“I just did my run with Hugh Dixon (last week), which was good. We waited a bit too long, we had 30 degree Perth heat which was a bit tough, but hopefully, we can get the games out of that in the end.”
