Matthew Pavlich's Top 10 - Number 8
Ahead of his 300th game, fremantlefc.com.au counts down our legendary captain's greatest moments
Shaun McManus knew his teammate and captain Matthew Pavlich was going to play a big game before the ball had even been bounced.
It was McManus’ last game as a Fremantle player, and it was also a Carlton Mid Derby.
“I could see in his eyes before the game that he was hell-bent on playing a big one for me,” McManus said.
Pavlich put in a special effort. He had 22 disposals, six marks and four goals for the match, but it was in the early moments that he set the tone, sending Freo to a 31-point quarter-time lead.
“’Pav’ came out and he was absolutely on fire,” McManus said.
“He always gives his all every time he pulls on a Freo jumper, but it meant a lot to me for him to play so well and lead us to victory and I’ll forever be indebted to him for that memory.”
