Midfielder David Mundy feels he is recovering well from a fibula fracture sustained during the off-season.
The injury occurred in December when he was riding his bike with his kids.
Appearing on Fremantle’s Pre-Season Show, Mundy gave a positive update.
“I’ve progressed to some on-field running now and it’s all going as according to plan,” Mundy said.
“I’m asking the questions and pushing the boundaries but it’s progressing well.”
At 34, Mundy is feeling his veteran status as the only player on the Fremantle list aged over than 30.
Freo currently have the equal second-youngest list in the AFL and Mundy is enjoying bringing the next generation through.
“I’m certainly destroying the average a little bit. I think it would be a bit lower without me there,” Mundy said.
“It’s a big time of transition within the club. There’s been a big change in the playing list in the past few years.
“We’ve seen the fruits of those labours coming through with some glimpses of really good potential, hopefully, that continues to grow and as a team we can get our on field and off field chemistry and cohesion together, which will result in some good wins.
Mundy, who graduated from his Marine Science degree in 2019, signed a one-year contract extension for the 2020 season.
While there is no date on his retirement, he said he would consider coaching following his playing career.
“Possibly, I feel like having been in the system for so long and understanding my aspect of it, it would be nice to get a bit of a glimpse behind the curtain,” Mundy said.
