Matthew Pavlich showed he had recovered from an illness that ruled him out of the Melbourne game last Saturday in Darwin, training in front of more than a thousand fans at the club’s open training session on Wednesday morning.
Pavlich was a late withdrawal for the Demons clash at TIO Stadium on Saturday night and was replaced by debutant Michael Apeness.
Pavlich completed the full training session then spent time meeting fans and signing autographs.
Michael Johnson was also out on the track. The defender has not played a game since sustaining a knee injury in the round 12 game against Adelaide.
Johnson will have to pass a test during the team’s final training session on Friday morning before being available for selection for this Sunday’s game against Greater Western Sydney.
Stephen Hill, David Mundy and Zac Dawson were all missing from the main session.
After watching their favourite players be put through their paces, fans lined the boundary fence ready to meet the team.
With face painting for junior fans and the 92.9 Road Runners, there was plenty of action but it was clear who the fan favourite was.
The crowd screamed Nat Fyfe’s name loud and proud, keen to get a close-up glimpse and a quick photo of the Freo star.
The team will hold a closed training session on Friday morning before the round 17 Fremantle v Greater Western Sydney game this Sunday, 2.40pm at Patersons Stadium.
