Morabito, who has injured his left anterior cruciate ligament three times, was carried off the track.
Scans showed it was a minor injury that would require him to complete a short rehabilitation program.
“It was good news, it’s not ideal but it’s not the end of the world,” Lyon told Melbourne radio station 3AW.
“He’ll look forward to a big summer.
“For the Melbourne listeners, it’s been four years. For him to come back and dominate the WAFL shows the special talent he is.
“We’re confident that he can be a significant part (for us) next year.”
