Skipper Matthew Pavlich and classy forward Michael Walters are likely to line up for Freo against Essendon this week, after passing concussions tests.
The pair suffered head knocks in Freo’s 68-point win over Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday and played no part in the second half.
Head hits hurt Freo
However, senior coach Ross Lyon said despite the clean bill of health it would be up to each player as to whether they felt right to play on Saturday.
“They’ve cleared all their tests but it’ll be up to the individual as to how they feel,” he said.
Lyon said he would leave the decision in the hands of his players and the club's medical staff.
"I don't get involved," Lyon said.
"Our doctors make all the calls on all injuries. As long as they're symptom-free they're available to play.
"But then it really comes up to the individual as well.
"If there was any concern whatsoever it wouldn't even be a discussion, but clearly there are no concerns as we speak now.
"But that can change and shift quickly.
"We've got, at all times, our players best interests at heart, even though we're a hard-nosed professional football club."
Training report: Good signs for Pav and Sonny
Lyon said Walters had recovered better than Pavlich but both looked promising.
“I’m optimistic on both, but no guarantee on either,” he said.
“At all times, we have our players best interests at heart.”
The pair trained with the main group on Thursday and appeared to be feeling no effects of the concussions.
Freo play Essendon at Domain Stadium Saturday 9 May.
