Fremantle star Danyle Pearce is hoping to run out on to Domain Stadium this Sunday in front of the passionate Purple Army as the build-up to round one continues.
Pearce will be available for selection against his former side Port Adelaide after overcoming a pre-season calf injury.
“In my time in footy, there’s nothing more spine-tingling than hearing the Freo chant go up,” he said.
“Hopefully at the end of the game, we’re doing that.”
After playing 154 games for Port Adelaide, Pearce will make his 50th appearance for Freo this weekend and its something that he holds in high regard.
“It’s something I’m really proud of,” he said.
“To be able to say I’ve played 50 games for Fremantle is something that I’m really going to hold and treasure for the rest of my life.
“Hopefully we can come away with the victory and have a great start for the big year ahead.”
Pearce racked up 22 possessions for Peel Thunder in the WAFL last week in just his second match of the pre-season.

He believes the hit-out has only helped his preparation for the AFL, despite originally pulling up a bit sore after the game.
“I definitely benefitted from the run, I feel great now,” he said.
“I come in and get into as much recovery as I can.
“I see the physios every day and everything is starting to feel good rolling into the first game.”
Pearce said the Freo players are raring to go and he knows what they can expect against his former teammates.
“It’s going to be a real fierce contest, a real fierce battle,” he said.
“Both sides have a tough first month to the year.
“We don’t shy away from playing the top sides, that’s what we want to do.
“We understand to win a premiership you need to beat the top sides.”
