Fremantle midfielder Nick Suban could be a surprise inclusion for round one after recovering faster than expected from a hamstring injury.
Goal-sneak Hayden Ballantyne, experienced utility Tendai Mzungu and young key forward Matt Taberner also look set to be available for selection to face Port Adelaide on Sunday evening at Domain Stadium.
Match preview: Fremantle v Port Adelaide
Suban injured his hamstring in the opening minutes of Fremantle's final NAB Challenge match against West Coast on March 22.
Coach Ross Lyon initially thought Suban would be ruled out of round one but his recovery has exceeded expectations.
Suban was put through a series of sprints and some change of direction work before Wednesday's main training session at Fremantle Oval. His trademark explosiveness was clear for all to see and he joined in with the main group shortly afterwards.
Training report: Wednesday 1 April
Ballantyne, Mzungu, Zac Clarke and Hayden Crozier were also put through the same tests and all passed with flying colours.
Ballantyne suffered what was first described as a 21-day calf injury in the NAB Challenge clash with the Sydney Swans on March 15.
But he moved well at training on Wednesday and looks set to be available to face Port Adelaide. Mzungu was withdrawn from the same game with hamstring tightness but Freo's best runner looked in fine shape at training.
Crozier rolled his ankle in the win over the Eagles but he also got through the tests without issue.
Taberner has not played since the first NAB Challenge match against Melbourne on March 5 due to Achilles soreness but he was training with the main group.
Michael Barlow, Paul Duffield and Danyle Pearce all trained after they got through a match for Peel Thunder in the WAFL on the weekend. Only Zac Dawson (groin) and Anthony Morabito (knee) failed to train.
Dawson is listed as four to five weeks away from returning as he continues his slow rehabilitation.
Key defender Alex Silvagni trained with some light running - he is set to be sidelined for another four weeks with a hamstring injury he suffered at training a fortnight ago.
Youngsters Connor Blakely, Ed Langdon and Alex Pearce were on light duties at training. All three played in the WAFL last weekend but continue to have their training workloads monitored carefully.
