Fremantle’s depth, on and off the field, has been a key component of its good start to the 2015 season, according to defender Michael Johnson.
 
The club heads into Saturday’s 20th annual Len Hall Tribute Match against Sydney undefeated.

“Success is on the field, but you can see the amount of work staff are doing off the field,” Johnson said.
 
“It starts from the top with the staff, chief executive Steve Rosich and president Steve Harris, it slowly filters down into the players.
 
“The club is really strong at the moment, we just have to keep working on field to keep building and become a really strong club on and off the field.”
 
The squad’s depth is telling, with a number of players vying for the final few positions, come game day.
 
“That is the strength of the club at the moment, whoever comes into the side performs,” he said.
 
“It’d be tough being one of those players outside the team trying to squeeze back in.”
 
Johnson said it was both young and old players leading the charge.
 
“You draw strength from these young guys on the training track and on game day,” he said.
 
“We have a lot of young guys coming through the ranks.
 
Johnson said the longevity of senior players, like himself, came from the work of the strength and conditioning staff.
 
He said they work closely with senior players adjusting their pre-seasons and training loads.
 
“That is a big factor in seniors players playing well,” he said.
 
“I’m getting old but I love running out their with the young guys.”
 
Fremantle take on Sydney on Saturday 25 April in the 20th annual Len Hall Tribute Match at Domain Stadium.
