It may come as a surprise to many AFL pundits but Fremantle hardly practice tackling.
Despite ranking sixth in the competition for most tackles last year, senior coach Ross Lyon said his players rarely practiced the skill.
Elite teams stay hungry
Lyon told 6PR’s Sports Today on Monday night that tackling was a mindset.
“We don’t do any competitive work over summer and we don’t do anything Monday to Friday,” he said.
“We hardy practice tackling, so it’s clearing a mindset, our boys are keen to compete.”
Freo will take on a fierce tackling side in Sydney on Saturday in the 20th annual Len Hall Tribute Match.
The Swans ranked first for total tackles in the competition last year and are ranked sixth this year.
Freo take on Sydney at Domain Stadium on Saturday 25 April. Bounce down is at 6.45pm.
