Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon says the team needs to maintain motivation for four quarters to become an elite side.
Speaking to Sports Today on 6PR Monday night Lyon was asked about the side’s apparent fade-out against West Coast after its 30-point win on Sunday.
Tackling is a mindset: Lyon
At the start of the third term, Fremantle led by 79 points before West Coast kicked nine of the last 10 goals of the game.
“We were really still dominant in the first 15 minutes but just slaughtered our opportunities inside 50 and let them out the back door a bit,” he said.
When asked about whether the side lost motivation in the third quarter, Lyon said top AFL teams maintain hunger for four quarters.
“Elite teams do, we want to be elite, so there is plenty of room for improvement,” he said.
“If you look around it’s hard to sustain four quarters, that’s why you’ve got to take your opportunities.”
