Speedy Fremantle forward Michael Walters says there is plenty of room for improvement, after a fourth quarter fadeout against Essendon.
It is not the first time Freo have let a team kick a number of unanswered goals in quick succession this year, with Sydney and West Coast doing so earlier in the season.
Freo led by 54 points at three-quarter time after dominating the match, before Essendon kicked some late goals.
Tough times in the AFL
Walters said it was likely a mental fade out.
“As in previous weeks we slowed up in the last quarter but it’s probably a mental fade,” he said.
“We knew at three-quarter time that Essendon were going to come back at us.
“We made it a focus not to let them to do that to easy, but they had some dynamic runners.
“Tonight was good but there is plenty of room for improvement.”
Walters finished with 1.1 and 16 disposals, and roved well off Matthew Pavlich and Zac Clarke.
But like the team, he said he can improve.
“I missed some easy targets,” he said.
“I did my job, I was there for the ground balls, I was in the spots to crumb but I can improve.”
