For most players the mid-season break is a few days respite but for Fremantle midfielder David Mundy he has to knuckle down and study for a university exam.
The 2010 Doig Medallist is studying marine science at Murdoch University.
Mundy admits it can be a juggling act to balance football, university and family week-to-week.
“I study a bit at night time once the kids are in bed,” he said.

“When we travel away, we get afternoons and flights which is handy time.”
Mundy said his study took his mind off football and gave him another area to focus.
“It’s completely different,” he said.
“I’ve found it a really good distraction from football to be honest.
“When I am in that world I am engrossed in it and it takes my mind away from football.”
Mundy said he was always interested in science and biology at school and hoped it may lead to a career in those fields post-football.
“I’m half way through in my second year units now,” he said.
“I always enjoyed the science and biology aspects at school.
“I find it really interesting, I’m really enjoying it.
“Post-football hopefully it will help.”
Mundy said the club was supportive of players adjusting their schedule to fit in study.
“Ross Lyon and Chris Bond at the footy club are really helpful and really encourage the guys to get on the front foot and organize themselves,” he said.
“As long as you organize them early enough and well enough they’re happy to move things around for you.”
