Matthew Pavlich is yet to decide whether he will put his name up to captain Fremantle for a remarkable tenth AFL season.

Pavlich announced on Wednesday that he would play on in 2016 in what will be his 17^th AFL season.

The club games record holder has captained Fremantle since 2007 but with a number of emerging future leaders, such as Brownlow Medallist Nat Fyfe, he may hand over the baton.

Pavlich said he was yet to deeply consider whether he would put his hand up to captain again.

“In some ways, a lot of people and even in myself, (think) it could be time for it to be taken over by someone else,” Pavlich said.

“We go through the process of electing the leadership group in the pre-season, then the captain is selected after that.

“There are some thoughts and discussions to be had around that.”

The Fremantle playing group elect the captain each year.

In 2015, Pavlich moved into the top 20 for most VFL/AFL games as captain.

Also on the agenda in the pre-season, is how best to manage his 33-year-old body for another season.

“We’ve put that on the table, we’ve discussed it, but the specifics won’t be worked out until we’re approaching pre-season,” Pavlich said.
