For the first time in 11 weeks the All-Australian pair of Luke McPharlin and Michael Johnson could line up side by side against North Melbourne on Sunday.
The important duo have not played together since round 10 when Johnson injured his hamstring, but were both named in a 25-man squad on Thursday.
While Johnson returned last week against West Coast, McPharlin missed due to calf soreness.
Zac Dawson could also return after serving a two-match suspension for striking in his first game of the season.
While Alex Silvagni will not feature after he was served a four-game suspension for striking in Sunday’s Carlton Draught Derby.
Fremantle are likely to persist with playing young tall Alex Pearce forward, particularly with the absence of captain Matthew Pavlich, who was ruled out on Thursday due to Achilles soreness.
Johnson said Fremantle’s defence needed to improve after a poor showing last week.
“We were pretty disappointing on the weekend, we allowed too many goals from West Coast’s forward line,” he said.
Johnson said McPharlin was a key cog in the back half.
“Without Luke, one of our leaders, it’s a bit tough down there,” he said.
“It’s good that possibly Luke and Zac can come back in this week.
“We bring back more experience and more height.”
