Nat Fyfe has received the maximum 10 votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year for the third time this season.

The two-time Doig Medallist’s 27 touches were crucial in Freo’s 14-point win over Sydney in Saturday’s 20th annual Len Hall Tribute Match at Domain Stadium.

Fyfe fires again

Fyfe is leading the count with 33 votes from just four matches this year, trailed by Giant Dylan Shiel (29) and Swan Dan Hannebery (22).

Senior coach Ross Lyon told Channel 9’s The Sunday Footy Show that Fyfe was a special athlete.

“He (Fyfe) is a monster athlete, a beast of a man,” he said.

“He’s real special, he’s just a competitive animal.”

Fyfe a 'phenomenon': de Boer

Lyon said Fyfe came to club weighing about 68kg but is now more than 90kg.

“He’s a unique package and we’re lucky to have him,” he said.

“His will to win is enormous, what he is really doing now is driving the group.”
