Fremantle refuse to give up on securing Cam McCarthy
AFL.com.au
FREMANTLE CEO Steve Rosich says the Dockers' interest in contracted Greater Western Sydney forward Cam McCarthy will not disappear.
With less than two days remaining on the NAB AFL Trade Period the Dockers CEO told AFL.com.au their interest in the 20-year-old McCarthy would remain "ongoing".
The Giants have so far resisted all attempts to enter into trade negotiations in relation to the West Australian during this trade period and have pledged to throw their resources towards ensuring McCarthy can settle comfortably in Sydney.
he Dockers have offered pick No.22 and a future first round pick for McCarthy who declared his desire to return home after two years and 21 games at GWS.
But the Giants have held their line that McCarthy, who has two years remaining on his contract, will not be traded.
However, Rosich said the Dockers wanted the chance to negotiate with the Giants.
Trade Wrap: Tigers no closer to Yarran, Blues eye five new arrivals
AFL.com.au
RICHMOND appears no closer to securing Chris Yarran despite securing a late first-round pick in the three-way trade that sent Charlie Dixon from Gold Coast to Port Adelaide on Tuesday.
As part of the Dixon deal, Richmond received pick No.19 from Gold Coast in exchange for its second-round picks this year (No.31) and next.
The Tigers had hoped pick No.19 would be a satisfactory swap for Yarran, but AFL.com.au understands the Blues quickly knocked back that proposal.
Carlton's initial asking price for Yarran was Richmond's first-round pick, No.12 overall, and, as of Tuesday night, it was yet to back down from that demand.
Carlton set to lose Troy Menzel to Adelaide
HeraldSun
CARLTON is set to lose another gun goalkicker after Troy Menzel completed a medical examination with Adelaide.
The Herald Sun on Tuesday revealed Menzel could depart Ikon Park in exchange for Crow Sam Kerridge and pick 28.
The shock move would continue the Blues’ goalkicking exodus after farewelling Jarrad Waite (North Melbourne), Jeff Garlett (Melbourne), Eddie Betts (Adelaide), Lachie Henderson (Geelong) and Tom Bell (Brisbane Lions).
Menzel, 21, is contracted for next year and widely rated as the Blues’ second-most prized youngster, behind best-and-fairest winner Patrick Cripps.
"Our interest as a club is ongoing and we feel as though he is a player that would fit into our list," Rosich said.
For Carlton and Geelong, it’s a clear case of trading places in 2015
The Age
The rapacious power club has gained four seasoned players, including a pricey superstar, and has sold, if not the farm, then a fair slice of the homestead, to return to premiership contention swiftly.
The other battling team is willing to jettison talented players – former first-round picks in or entering their prime – in order to have a major hand in the draft. This club is taking an extreme long-range view.
