He is Fremantle’s all-time leading goal kicker with 668 majors, and in finals, captain Matthew Pavlich thrives.
While he was starved of finals appearances earlier in his career, he has made the most of his 13 opportunities in recent seasons.
In the past five finals, Pavlich has booted 17 goals at an average of 3.4 per game, leading his team from the front.
In last year’s semi-final loss to Port Adelaide, Pavlich stood tall with four majors.
The Specialists: Disposals
His six-goal effort against Geelong in the 2012 Elimination Final, including three in the first term, will go down in Fremantle club folklore.
Dangerous small forwards Hayden Ballantyne and Michael Walters return from injury and will compliment Pavlich nicely against Sydney.
However, they will be put to the test against the Swan’s strong backline led by Ted Richards and Heath Grundy.
