Exciting forward Michael Walters is Fremantle’s leading goal kicker for the second time after a dominant season in the forward half.
 
Walters booted 44 goals, including six in the club’s two finals appearances to secure top spot ahead of Matthew Pavlich (40).
 
His three goals in Friday’s Preliminary Final, kept Fremantle’s Grand Final chances alive for much of the game.
 
Walters was previously the leading goal scorer in 2013 with 46 goals.

He said he only finished off the good work of his team mates.
 
“As Ross Lyon says, the forwards get paid to kick goals,” he said.
 
“I’m just lucky to kick some goals after the midfielders get it to me.”

Walters kicked three or more goals on 10 occasions this season.
 
He said the work of his fellow forwards was also crucial to his success between the big sticks.
 
“Pav (Matthew Pavlich), Ballas (Hayden Ballantyne) and Mayney (Chris Mayne) do a lot of work behind the scenes,” he said.

“Most of my goals come from the work of others, it’s a team effort.”
 
Walters said Fremantle had to improve its scoring to push deeper into the finals next year.
 
“To get the job done, you need to score,” he said.
 
“Next year we’ll focus on that.”
