New addition to Fremantle’s coaching group, Anthony Rock, brings a wealth of coaching experience across all levels of football.

Fremantle add premiership trio to coaching group

Rock was a premiership player with North Melbourne and was one of three additions, with premiership players David Hale and Brent Guerra, to Fremantle’s coaching group for 2016.

After his 222-game AFL career ended in 2001, which included the 1996 flag with the Kangaroos, Rock took on a variety of coaching and development roles in Victoria.

Most recently, Rock was senior coach of St Bernard’s in the Victoria Amateur Football Association Premier League and before that was a midfield assistant coach at North Melbourne, St Kilda and Melbourne.

Rock was also a senior coach and development manager with North Ballart Rebels in the TAC competition.

“I’ve spent time coaching a lot of under-18s,” he said.

“It’s really pleasing to watch those young player develop into AFL players.

“That’s what I look forward to doing at Fremantle, helping the younger players reach their potential.

“I’ve coached at grassroots, TAC and AFL level, I think that gives me a good mix of experience.”

Rock will be reunited with senior coach Ross Lyon after working with the latter at St Kilda in 2007 and 2008.

“There are a lot of positives for Fremantle heading into 2016 and I can’t wait to be involved,” he said.
