Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon has praised the club’s partnership with Peel Thunder for producing players moulded to Freo’s way like Alex Pearce.
Pearce impressed in his debut in Freo’s 28-point win over Essendon at Domain Stadium on Saturday night, earning admiration from Lyon, who spoke to 6PR’s Sports Today on Monday.
“He (Pearce) came up with method and application,” Lyon said.
“He is good at ground work and did some good body play, he took some intercept marks.
Lyon thrilled with Pearce
Lyon said the partnership with the WAFL club was paying dividends, with players ready for the AFL
“Pearce played to our method and that’s the benefit of the alignment,” he said.
“They play how we want them to play, rather than getting told to do something else.
“It’s a real win for the alignment.”
Lyon said Peel players Hayden Crozier and Tommy Sheridan continued to impress in the WAFL.
He said Peel coach Cam Shepherd had a good mix of youth and experience.
“What I like about Peel is they’re playing some good local kids from down south and giving them an opportunity,” he said.
“They’ve got some young kids…and they have a few wily veterans.”
