Premier Colin Barnett and Sport and Recreation Minister Mia Davies today announced the four organisations shortlisted for the role of operator at the new Perth Stadium.

The shortlisted respondents are AEG Ogden, Nationwide Venue Management, Perth Stadium Management and Stadium Australia Operations.

The Premier said he was pleased to see the 60,000-seat stadium development reach another important milestone.

“The stadium project is progressing very well.  The State Government received responses from a number of highly credentialed venue operators from around the world and I thank all of those who responded,” he said.

Ms Davies said the four respondents would shortly receive Request for Proposals documentation so they could prepare their detailed proposals.

“Each submission will then be thoroughly reviewed and evaluated, and the contract is expected to be awarded in early 2016 - two years ahead of the planned stadium opening for the start of the 2018 AFL season,” she said.

“The operator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the stadium and sports precinct, and will play a leading role in delivering the ‘fans first’ experience and attracting high quality sporting and entertainment events.

“The operator is expected to employ a number of full-time staff plus more than 1500 casuals to fulfil a year-round calendar of activities and events.”

The operator will work closely with the governance agency for the new Perth Stadium, VenuesWest, and the facilities manager, Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions (formerly Brookfield Johnson Controls), appointed as part of the Westadium consortium in August 2014.

Construction of the stadium is on schedule. More than 50 per cent of the piles have been inserted into the site to support the stadium structure. The first concrete slab was poured last week.
