Fremantle midfielder Ryan Crowley says he would not wish the past few months of his life on anyone.

AFL Tribunal decision on Ryan Crowley

The AFL Anti-Doping Tribunal announced on Thursday it had suspended the 31-year-old for 12 months after he tested positive in season 2014 to a specified substance under the AFL’s Anti-Doping Code.

Crowley said the process had taken its toll.

Crowley overwhelmed by support

“This was my mistake and I deserve it but I wouldn’t wish it on anyone,” he said.

“When I first found out it was pretty tough but you ebb and flow, there are so many different emotions the whole way through.”

Crowley praised supporters, his partner and the club for their unwavering support during the tough period.

Crowley's toughest phone call

He paid special thanks to senior coach Ross Lyon, general manager of football Chris Bond and chief executive Steve Rosich.

“I’ve had really good support around me,” he said.

“You’re with them more than your family, all day long and I just can’t thank them enough.”
