There are three possible debutants in Fremantle’s extended squad for Sunday’s Indigenous Round match against Melbourne at Patersons Stadium.

Viv Michie, Matt Taberner and Josh Simpson could make fairy-tale AFL debuts, while young forward Hayden Crozier is the other inclusion.

The final 22 will be named on fremantlefc.com.au Friday afternoon.

Crozier seems the likely replacement for the injured Michael Walters, who is out after sustaining an ankle injury in last week’s draw in Sydney.

Fremantle general manager of football Chris Bond said the club has been pleased with the WAFL form of all three possible first-gamers.

With Kepler Bradley going to the long-term injury list, 19-year-old Taberner was upgraded to Freo’s senior list, making him available for selection.

“Matt had a breakout game last week for Peel Thunder as a forward,” Bond said.

“He’s was able to get a fair bit of the footy and have shots at goal.”

Michie, 21, hadn’t played a game in two years prior to this season because of a foot injury.

He’s been performing very well in the WAFL in 2013.

“Viv’s form throughout the year has been very solid,” Bond said.

“He’s won a lot of ball and he’s really been able to improve in key areas of his game.”

If 19-year-old Simpson plays, he will join Michael Johnson and Danyle Pearce as the Indigenous players representing Freo in Indigenous Round.

“Josh has shown really steady improvement with East Fremantle, playing that half-forward/wing/on-ball role,” Bond said.

Crozier was a late withdrawal from last week’s team in Sydney with a groin injury but looks set to return.

“He’s been able to get through training and he’s in line if he gets through training tomorrow,” Bond said.

The final 22 will be named on fremantlefc.com.au Friday afternoon.
