Fremantle have almost completed their list for the inaugural AFL Women’s league after selecting 18 WA players at the AFLW National Draft on Wednesday.
Each player selected on Wednesday is profiled below.
Hayley Miller – Pick 4
D.O.B: 3 February 1996
Recruited from: Coastal Titans
Position: Midfielder/half back
Work or study: Studies Physiotherapy
Achievements and awards: Represented Melbourne in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Women’s exhibition matches, 2014 U/18 Player of the Tournament and Best on Ground in the WA v VIC Grand Final, 2013 and 2014 U/18 All Australian
Miller is a hard running midfielder/defender who represented Melbourne in the 2016 exhibition match. Has great ability and also possesses massive upside with the potential to grow into one of the elite players in the competition.
Brianna Green – Pick 13
D.O.B: 20 November 1996
Recruited from: East Fremantle
Position: Midfielder
Work or study: Studies Health Science at Curtin University
Achievements and awards: Co-captained the National U/18 youth girls team premiership, 2015 East Fremantle Best and Fairest
Green is a classy ball winner who had an outstanding WAWFL season. Will be looking to form part of a strong midfield group.
Ashley Sharp – Pick 20
D.O.B: 11 June 1997
Recruited from: Swan Districts
Position: Half forward/wing
Work or study: Works at the AFL store part time and studies Sport Science
Achievements and awards: 2013, 2014and2016 Swan Districts premiership player, Best on Ground in 2016 Swan Districts Grand Final, Played in the 2016 West Coast v Fremantle exhibition match, 2016 WA state U/23 team representative, 2014 All Australian U/18 player, Captain of WA state U/16 against Victoria in 2013, 2013 All Australian state 16s player
Sharp has the ability to play forward, back or through the midfield. Was best on ground for Swan Districts in their WAWFL triumph. Has speed to burn and is an excellent kick on either side of her body.
Lara Filocamo – Pick 29
D.O.B: 15 September 1990
Recruited from: Coastal Titans
Position: Midfielder
Work or study: Emergency Department Nurse
Achievements and awards: 2016 Coastal Titans Best and Fairest runner-up, 2013 Claremont Best First-year Player
Filocamo is a midfielder who will work hard for the team until the final siren. What she lacks in size, she makes up for with courage.
Tiah Haynes – Pick 36
D.O.B: 25 May 1993
Recruited from: Coastal Titans
Position: Midfielder/half back
Work or study: Production technician
Achievements and awards: 2014 No.1 Draft pick, 2013 East Fremantle Best and Fairest and Player of the Finals, 2011 East Fremantle Player of the Finals and Rookie of the Year
Haynes is returning from an ACL injury. Driven to succeed, she will want to remind everyone how good a player she can be.
Kira Phillips – Pick 45
D.O.B: 16 May 1995
Recruited from: Peel Thunderbirds
Position: Forward

Achievements and awards: 2014, 2015 and 2016 Peel Thunder Leading goal kicker, 2013 WAWFL Rising Star
Phillips is a key forward with untapped ability. She starred in the Fremantle v West Coast exhibition match earlier this season.
Tayla Bresland – Pick 52
D.O.B: 4 February 1996

Position: Defender
Work or study: Second year cabinet maker apprentice
Achievements and awards: 2016 Peel Thunder Coaches award, 2015 Peel Thunder Best and Fairest, 2012 Jim Stynes scholarship
Bresland is a key defender who has shown she has the ability to take on and beat the best forwards in the country.
Amy Lavell – Pick 61
D.O.B: 20 February 1987
Recruited from: Coastal Titans
Position: Forward
Work or study: Phys Ed teacher
Achievements and awards: WAWFL Team of the Decade, Five-time Coastal Titans premiership player, Best on Ground for 2010 Grand Final, 2006 and 2010 Coastal Titans Best and Fairest, 2016 league leading goal kicker
Lavell returned to the WAWFL with the Coastal Titans this season and promptly made a name as a key forward ending the season as the league’s leading goal kicker.
Stacey Barr – Pick 68
D.O.B: 12 November 1992
Recruited from: Swan Districts
Position: Half forward
Work or study:: Bachelor of Exercise science and health
Achievements and awards: 2016 Swan Districts premiership player
Barr is a former Western Australian Basketball League player who has made the transition into the WAWFL this season. She has excellent athletic traits.
Melissa Caulfield – Pick 77
D.O.B: 29 May 1988

Position: Forward/Midfielder

Caulfield is a classy midfielder that will add extra polish to the team. Can also go forward and kick a goal.
Cassie Davidson – Pick 84

Davidson is an inside midfielder that thrives on competition. Was a key component to East Fremantle's push to the WAWFL Grand Final.
Taylah Angel – Pick 93

Akec Makur Chuot – Pick 139

Position: Ruck/defender
Work or study: Community engagement co-ordinator at the WAFC
Achievements and awards: Nominated foryoung multicultural player of the year, 2014 and 2016 premiership player with Swan Districts.
Chuot is tall and agile and reads the play well. Can pinch hit in the ruck or play as a rebounding defender.
Tarnica Golisano – Free agency

Golisano is a quick, hard running defender that can also play a role in the midfield. 16-a-side competition should suit her perfectly.
