The Fremantle Footy Festival for members and fans set for 9am Friday 1 February on Victor George Kailis Oval at Cockburn ARC has been re-scheduled due to predicted extreme weather conditions.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a maximum temperature for Friday of 37C with a UV Rating of 14, which is regarded as extreme and unsafe for patrons.
“After discussions with the Bureau of Meteorology, the club has decided that it is in the best interests and safety of our members and supporters to re-schedule the Footy Festival set for Friday to another date,” chief commercial officer Scott Gooch said.
“We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused but, given the predicted extreme conditions, we believe we are acting in the best interests of our members and supporters who were planning to attend Friday’s event.
“We are pleased to advise that the Footy Festival has now been re-scheduled to Tuesday 23 April, which is during the second week of the April school holidays.”
A Harbour Masters function scheduled for Friday 1 February at Cockburn ARC will not be affected and will still proceed as planned, starting at 9.30am in the Function Room.
The AFL team will still train as scheduled at 9am on Friday on Victor George Kailis Oval.
